FAKE NEWS ALERT: PRESIDENT IBRAHIM TRAORÉ DID NOT TURN DOWN INVITATION FROM PRESIDENT SAMIA SULUHU HASSAN

A viral post circulating on social media claiming that Burkina Faso President Ibrahim Traoré turned down an invitation from Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan to attend her “military inauguration” in Dodoma has been confirmed to be false. Reliable sources from Tanzania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of diplomatic matters, have clarified that no such invitation was ever extended to President Traoré or any official delegation from Burkina Faso. Furthermore, the official stated clearly that the inauguration took place at the statehouse in a civil televised official ceremony in accordance to Tanzania laws and constitution. The official further explained that Tanzania continues to uphold strong diplomatic relations with other African nations, including Burkina Faso, but any insinuation of strained ties between the two countries is completely fabricated. The post, which appears to originate from a page labeled #KenyaDailyReport and dated 03/11/2025, has spread widely on social media. However, no credible media outlet in either Tanzania or Burkina Faso has reported on such an incident.
