The Minister of Finance, Hon. Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar (MP), has commended the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) for its continued strong performance in government revenue collection, an achievement he said has contributed significantly to economic growth and the implementation of key development projects across the country.
The Minister made the remarks while officially opening the TRA Mid-Year Performance Review Meeting for the 2025/26 Financial Year, held at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC) in Arusha.
Hon. Ambassador Khamis noted that between July and December 2025, TRA collected TZS 18.77 trillion, surpassing its target of TZS 18.10 trillion, an achievement equivalent to 103.7% of the planned revenue goal.
He further highlighted TRA’s exceptional performance in December 2025, during which the Authority recorded a historic milestone by collecting TZS 4.13 trillion, the highest monthly revenue collection ever achieved since TRA was established.
“These results clearly show that TRA is on the right track to achieve, and even exceed, the revenue target set for the 2025/26 financial year. Congratulations on this remarkable achievement,” he said.
The Minister attributed the success to strong policy direction and effective reforms under the Sixth Phase Government, led by H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania. He emphasized that investments in modern systems and technology have brought significant improvements in tax administration and revenue collection.
He added that the government remains committed to strengthening the economy through continued reforms in revenue systems, improved tax policies, and expanded use of technology—measures that have enabled TRA to deliver better results year after year
