The Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, His Excellency Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, bade farewell to his guest, Hon. Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) in Dar es Salaam.
Hon. Wang Yi paid a two-day working visit to the United Republic of Tanzania from 9 to 10 January 2026, aimed at strengthening and further deepening the historic and strategic partnership between Tanzania and China.
During the visit, His Excellency Minister Wang Yi held bilateral consultations with his host, His Excellency Minister Kombo, and paid a courtesy call on Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, at State House in Dar es Salaam.
In his remarks at the farewell, His Excellency Minister Kombo expressed sincere appreciation to Hon. Minister Wang Yi and his delegation for including Tanzania in the visit, underscoring that the engagement had further reinforced the enduring bonds of friendship, solidarity, and long-standing cooperation between the two countries.
He further emphasized Tanzania’s expectation that the understandings reached during the visit would be translated into concrete actions, to the mutual benefit of the peoples of Tanzania and China.
For his part, Hon. Minister Wang Yi conveyed his gratitude to the Government and People of Tanzania for the warm reception and generous hospitality extended to him and his delegation. He expressed satisfaction with the existing level of cooperation, and reaffirmed China’s continued commitment to remain a close, trusted, and reliable partner in Tanzania’s efforts to advance its social and economic development.
