
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia | 13 February 2026. Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, arrived in Addis Ababa to participate in the 2026 Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC).
The high-level meeting was held under the Chairmanship of His Excellency Dr. William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, bringing together African leaders to advance coordinated continental action on climate change.
Convened in the lead-up to the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (14–15 February 2026), the CAHOSCC meeting focused on accelerating Africa’s climate response and consolidating the continent’s common position in global climate policy discussions and international negotiations.
The forum provides a strategic platform for African Heads of State and Government to align priorities, strengthen climate resilience strategies, mobilize climate finance, and advocate for equitable outcomes in global climate frameworks.
President Samia’s participation underscores Tanzania’s continued commitment to climate action, sustainable development, and collective African leadership in addressing the pressing challenges posed by climate change.
