Seven Ministers Meet Community Representatives to Implement Prime Minister’s Directives

Cabinet Ministers and regional leaders meeting with community representatives from Kilindi and Handeni Districts to discuss implementation of Prime Minister’s directives in Tanga Region.

Lushoto, Tanga Region — Seven Cabinet Ministers have convened with community representatives from Kilindi and Handeni Districts in Tanga Region to formulate coordinated and sustainable solutions to issues raised during the recent outreach visit of the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba.

The high-level consultative meeting was chaired by the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Hon. Dr. Ashatu Kijaji (MP), and brought together Ministers from the President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (TAMISEMI), as well as the Ministries of Agriculture; Livestock and Fisheries; Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development; and Finance.

Representatives from Mswaki Village (Kilindi District) and Msomera Village in Misima Ward (Handeni District) participated in the session, presenting key community concerns and development priorities.

Prime Minister Dr. Nchemba had directed the Ministers to engage directly with the affected communities to ensure timely responses to grievances and to design practical implementation strategies.

The meeting was also attended by the Regional Commissioner for Manyara, Hon. Queen Sendiga, representatives of Permanent Secretaries from the respective Ministries, senior government officials, and technical experts.

The engagement reflects the Government’s commitment to inclusive governance, strengthened inter-ministerial coordination, and responsive leadership in advancing regional development and addressing citizens’ priorities.

Delegates attending the 59th Extraordinary Meeting of the EAC Council of Ministers at the East African Community Headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania. Arusha, Tanzania – 2 March 2026 – The 59th Extraordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the East African Community (EAC) has officially commenced at the EAC Headquarters in Arusha, marking the beginning of high-level preparations for the 25th Ordinary Summit of EAC Heads of State scheduled for 7 March 2026. The meeting has begun at the Experts’ Level, running from 2–3 March 2026, where technical officials are reviewing key agenda items and reports to be submitted to the Permanent Secretaries’ Meeting on 4 March, and subsequently to the Council of Ministers on 5 March 2026. Among the key matters under consideration are: The Annual Report of the Council of Ministers covering 30 November 2024 to 31 December 2025 The Council’s report on the implementation of decisions and directives from previous EAC Heads of State Summits The official launch of the 7th EAC Development Strategy (2026/27–2030/31) The launch of the EAC Customs Bond/Guarantee, aimed at streamlining regional trade Additional agenda items include assent to Bills passed by the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), appointment of a new EAC Secretary General, renewal of contracts for Deputy Secretaries General, appointment of Judges to the East African Court of Justice, and recognition of essay competition winners. Tanzania’s delegation is led by Mr. Benjamin Mwesiga, Director of Trade, Investment and Productive Sectors at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation. The delegation includes representatives from the President’s Office (Public Service Management and Good Governance), President’s Office (Planning and Investment), Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Office of the Attorney General. The East African Community comprises eight Partner States, with a combined population exceeding 300 million people and a collective GDP estimated at over USD 300 billion, positioning the bloc as one of Africa’s largest regional markets and a significant investment destination.

Mbulu, Manyara Region – The Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba, has inspected the ongoing construction of the Mbulu–Garbabi (25 km) road segment, a key section of the larger Karatu–Mbulu–Haydom–Sibiti River–Lalago–Maswa (389 km) trunk road being upgraded to bitumen standard. The project, implemented by the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS), is designed to enhance road connectivity, improve the transportation of people and goods, and stimulate economic activities across the regions it serves. Once completed, the corridor is expected to significantly reduce travel time, improve access to social services, and open up new trade and investment opportunities in Manyara and neighboring regions. According to project updates, construction progress has reached 41.7 percent, with a total project cost of TSh 36.3 billion allocated for completion. To date, TSh 12.5 billion has already been disbursed. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of timely execution and quality assurance to ensure the project delivers its intended socio-economic impact and supports Tanzania’s broader infrastructure development agenda.

Serengeti, March 1, 2026 – The Commissioner of Conservation for the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA), CPA Mussa Nassoro Kuji, has conducted a high-level inspection tour of infrastructure at Serengeti National Park following ongoing heavy rains that have impacted parts of the park. During the visit, Commissioner Kuji assessed flood-affected sections of the Seronera–Naabi road, including the Naabi Hippo Crossing, where rising water levels temporarily disrupted vehicle movement. Tour vehicles and other road users were required to pause travel at certain crossings until water levels subsided. Addressing park officials after the inspection, Commissioner Kuji reaffirmed TANAPA’s commitment to maintaining safe and resilient infrastructure within the park. “The ongoing rains have created challenges in specific road sections. I have directed management to urgently rehabilitate the affected crossings and conduct a comprehensive assessment of the entire Seronera–Naabi corridor to guarantee the safety of tourists and all park users,” he stated. The Senior Assistant Commissioner of Conservation and Head of the Western Zone, Izumbe Msindai, confirmed that zonal leadership, in collaboration with park management and stakeholders, will continue strengthening infrastructure to ensure tourism operations remain uninterrupted during the rainy season. “We have deployed specialized recovery teams and guidance units across key locations to safeguard visitors and their property while maintaining smooth service delivery,” Msindai noted. Assistant Commissioner of Conservation and Chief Park Warden of Serengeti National Park, Ismail Omary Ismail, also urged tour operators and motorists to exercise heightened caution and strictly follow instructions issued by conservation officers and rangers. The visit further included an inspection of tourism operations at Naabi Gate, where Commissioner Kuji observed a steady flow of tourists entering and exiting the park, underscoring Serengeti’s continued attractiveness even during seasonal weather challenges.

Mtwara, February 27, 2026 – The Minister for Energy, Hon. Deogratius Ndejembi, has directed the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) to closely supervise the contractor implementing the Ntorya–Madimba natural gas pipeline project to ensure its completion by September 2026. Speaking in Mtwara after laying the foundation stone for the project, which has reached 35 percent implementation, Minister Ndejembi emphasized that the pipeline will transport natural gas from the Ntorya discovery field to the Madimba Gas Processing Plant and significantly boost gas utilization in the country. “We have set a target for September to ensure these wells are producing gas and connected to the main Madimba pipeline. There should be no excuses. To achieve this, TPDC must maintain strong on-site supervision. Tanzanians want to see tangible progress,” Ndejembi stressed. He further urged TPDC experts to ensure that all project activities meet quality standards and contractual timelines. The Minister noted that the project will stimulate growth in the gas sector, increase electricity generation, attract investment, and promote industrial development that creates employment opportunities for Tanzanians. Ndejembi also encouraged TPDC to accelerate exploration and development of new gas wells to ensure sufficient supply, especially as demand continues to rise from industrial investors. He called for full implementation of corporate social responsibility projects in collaboration with local communities, including classroom construction, water well drilling, and other priority initiatives. The Minister highlighted that under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan’s leadership and the National Development Vision 2050, the Government aims to expand access and utilization of natural gas to support the target of generating 8,000 megawatts of electricity by 2030. Earlier, the Permanent Secretary for Petroleum and Gas in the Ministry of Energy, Dr. James Mataragio, stated that the Ntorya block will increase natural gas availability amid rising demand from industrial investors. The Ntorya–Madimba raw natural gas pipeline project was signed on July 3, 2025, between TPDC and the contractors China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co. Ltd. and China Petroleum Technology & Development Corporation. The project is valued at USD 46.8 million and is scheduled for completion by September 30, 2026.

The meeting, held in Dodoma, brought together government experts, civil society organizations, and private sector representatives to formulate coordinated and sustainable measures aimed at minimizing—and ultimately eliminating—conflicts involving dangerous and destructive wild animals. Dr. Abbasi urged stakeholders to intensify collaboration and combine efforts in developing practical solutions that safeguard communities while preserving wildlife resources. He further called on stakeholders to continue supporting the Sixth Phase Government under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, which has already implemented several interventions to control dangerous wildlife. These include investment in drone technology for wildlife monitoring, construction of crocodile control cages, deployment of non-lethal deterrent measures such as cold bombs, and expanded public awareness and education campaigns.
