Dar es Salaam, Tanzania — The Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo (MP), has formally received the Letters of Credence from the Resident Representative of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Mr. Ashraf Hassan, during an official ceremony held at the Ministry’s offices in Dar es Salaam.
In his remarks following the presentation, Minister Kombo emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation between the Government of Tanzania and IOM, particularly in addressing migration-related challenges, combating human trafficking, and strengthening the institutional capacity of national migration management systems.
He reaffirmed Tanzania’s commitment to working closely with IOM to ensure that migration is managed in a safe, orderly, and regular manner. “Our partnership is anchored in safeguarding human dignity, reinforcing national systems, and ensuring that no one is left behind,” the Minister stated.
Mr. Hassan, in turn, expressed appreciation for the Government’s continued collaboration and pledged to enhance constructive engagement with Tanzania. He commended the country’s proactive efforts in migration governance and its commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of migrants.
The engagement reflects Tanzania’s ongoing commitment to multilateral cooperation and responsible migration management within regional and global frameworks.
