Hudefo Joins National Workshop in Dodoma to Review Tanzania’s NCCRS 2021–2026

Dodoma, Tanzania — Hudefo has taken part in a pivotal technical workshop convened by the Vice President’s Office, in collaboration with the Climate Action Network (CAN), marking the official launch of the review process for Tanzania’s National Climate Change Response Strategy (NCCRS) 2021–2026.

The workshop brought together a diverse coalition of stakeholders, including Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), civil society organizations (CSOs), academia, financial institutions, and private sector representatives. The gathering served as a strategic platform to strengthen coordination, policy coherence, and multi-sectoral collaboration in advancing Tanzania’s climate resilience and low-carbon development agenda.

Deliberations centered on aligning the NCCRS with both national and global frameworks, notably Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0), the National Adaptation Plan (NAP), and the National Development Vision 2050. Participants emphasized the importance of integrating these frameworks to ensure consistency across policies, implementation strategies, and long-term climate commitments.

Hudefo’s Executive Director contributed to the dialogue by representing gender and youth as critical cross-cutting pillars within the revised strategy. The contribution highlighted the need for inclusive climate governance and proposed actionable measures to enhance equity, participation, and measurable impact in climate programming.

Hudefo expressed appreciation to the Vice President’s Office and the Climate Action Network for convening the engagement, reaffirming that the NCCRS remains a cornerstone national framework guiding Tanzania’s climate action trajectory.
