President Samia Presents National Flag to Chief of Defence Forces at Tanzania’s National Defence Headquarters

Dodoma, Tanzania | 24 February 2026 — The President of the United Republic of Tanzania and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, formally presented the national flag to the Chief of Defence Forces, General Jacob John Mkunda, during a ceremony held at the National Defence Headquarters (MMUT) in Kikombo, Dodoma Region.

The symbolic presentation of the national flag underscores the unity, sovereignty, and constitutional authority of the Armed Forces under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief. The ceremony formed part of the official inauguration events at the newly commissioned defence headquarters.

In her capacity as Commander-in-Chief, President Samia reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacity, discipline, and operational readiness within the Tanzania People’s Defence Force (TPDF).

The event highlighted the enduring bond between national leadership and the Armed Forces, reflecting Tanzania’s continued investment in defence infrastructure and national security systems.

The National Defence Headquarters in Kikombo serves as the strategic nerve center for defence planning and coordination, reinforcing Tanzania’s preparedness to safeguard peace, stability, and territorial integrity.
