Dodoma, February 26, 2026 – The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Hassan Abbasi, has convened a high-level meeting with key stakeholders to strengthen strategies for addressing human-wildlife conflict (HWC) in Tanzania.
The meeting, held in Dodoma, brought together government experts, civil society organizations, and private sector representatives to formulate coordinated and sustainable measures aimed at minimizing—and ultimately eliminating—conflicts involving dangerous and destructive wild animals.
Dr. Abbasi urged stakeholders to intensify collaboration and combine efforts in developing practical solutions that safeguard communities while preserving wildlife resources.
He further called on stakeholders to continue supporting the Sixth Phase Government under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, which has already implemented several interventions to control dangerous wildlife. These include investment in drone technology for wildlife monitoring, construction of crocodile control cages, deployment of non-lethal deterrent measures such as cold bombs, and expanded public awareness and education campaigns.
The Government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, while ensuring sustainable conservation practices that balance human safety with environmental protection.
