Minister Kombo Inspects MKICC and African Court Projects as Arusha Positions Itself as a Premier Conference and Diplomatic Investment Hub

Arusha, Tanzania – The Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo (MP), has conducted an inspection tour of major development projects implemented by the Ministry and its affiliated institutions in Arusha.

Among the flagship projects visited was the construction of the Mount Kilimanjaro International Conference Centre (MKICC) in the Kijenge area. The state-of-the-art facility is expected to strengthen Tanzania’s position as a regional hub for international diplomacy, conferences, and high-level engagements.

The Minister also inspected the construction of the new office complex for the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights located in Lakilaki, Arusha. The project underscores Tanzania’s continued commitment as the host nation of the continental judicial institution and its broader role in promoting rule of law and regional cooperation.

The inspection reflects the Government’s strategic investment in diplomatic infrastructure aimed at enhancing Tanzania’s global presence, attracting international conferences, and reinforcing Arusha’s status as a centre for regional and continental institutions.

The projects are expected to contribute to economic growth through conference tourism, institutional development, and increased international engagement.
