Mbulu, Manyara – March 2, 2026 – The Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba, has inspected the newly constructed Mother and Child building at Haydom Lutheran Hospital in Mbulu District, Manyara Region.
The state-of-the-art facility, constructed at a cost of TSh 6.3 billion, is designed to enhance maternal and child healthcare services by meeting modern medical and patient safety standards. The project is expected to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality rates while easing congestion among patients seeking specialized care.
Haydom Lutheran Hospital continues to play a vital role as a faith-based partner in supporting the Government’s efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery. The hospital provides referral and specialized medical services to residents of Manyara Region and neighboring regions.
Speaking after the inspection, Prime Minister Nchemba acknowledged the significant contribution of religious institutions, including the Lutheran Church, in promoting community welfare.
“The Government recognizes the crucial role played by institutions providing social services. That is why tax exemptions have been extended to support their operations. President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan deeply appreciates the dedication of health workers, including those here at Haydom, who are saving lives every day,” he stated.
The inspection underscores the Government’s continued commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and strengthening partnerships with faith-based institutions to expand access to quality medical services nationwide.
