International Women’s Day: Segoline Tarimo Honored for Transforming Wildlife Conservation and Tourism in Tanzania

Segoline Tarimo, Assistant Commissioner for Conservation at the Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA), has been recognized for her significant contribution to wildlife conservation and tourism development as the world prepares to mark International Women’s Day on 8 March 2026.

Tarimo, one of the distinguished and influential leaders within TAWA, has earned recognition for her professionalism, innovation, and dedication to strengthening Tanzania’s conservation sector while promoting sustainable tourism initiatives.

“We must never waver in our commitment to encouraging Tanzanians to explore our nation’s tourism attractions and to safeguarding the resources that sustain wildlife conservation,” Tarimo said.

Through her leadership, she has played a key role in advancing domestic tourism, strengthening wildlife conservation programs, and introducing new tourism products across protected areas and game reserves under TAWA’s management.

These initiatives have helped enhance the attractiveness of Tanzania’s conservation areas, encourage more Tanzanians to visit national attractions, and provide unique and enriching experiences for visitors.

TAWA noted that Tarimo’s work continues to support broader efforts to promote conservation awareness, strengthen tourism development, and inspire communities to take part in protecting Tanzania’s natural heritage.

As the global community prepares to celebrate International Women’s Day 2026, the authority commended Tarimo for her visionary leadership and commitment to safeguarding the country’s wildlife resources while contributing to the growth of the tourism sector.

Her efforts have also helped inspire greater public participation in conservation and strengthened the link between sustainable tourism and environmental protection.
