Burundi President Évariste Ndayishimiye Arrives in Tanzania for 25th East African Community Heads of State Summit

Kilimanjaro, Tanzania – March 7, 2026

The President of the Republic of Burundi, H.E. Évariste Ndayishimiye, has arrived at Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) in Kilimanjaro Region to attend the 25th Ordinary Summit of the Heads of State of the East African Community (EAC).

The high-level summit is taking place today, March 7, 2026, at the East African Community Headquarters in Arusha, bringing together leaders from EAC partner states to discuss key regional priorities, including economic integration, regional security, and development cooperation.

Upon his arrival in Tanzania, President Ndayishimiye was received by Tanzania’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, accompanied by several senior government officials.

The summit marks another important step in strengthening collaboration among East African Community member states, as leaders work together to advance regional integration and promote sustainable development across the region.

Arusha, home to the EAC headquarters, continues to serve as a central hub for regional diplomacy and cooperation in East Africa.
