Zanzibar Accelerates Economic Transformation Through Aviation and Tech Reforms

Zanzibar, March 26, 2026 — Zanzibar is intensifying efforts to expand its aviation sector and advance digital transformation, as President H.E. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi engages global investors and technology partners to drive economic growth.

During a meeting at State House, President Mwinyi received a delegation from China’s Liaoning Fangda Group of Companies, led by Chairman Mr. Ao Xinhua, where discussions focused on potential investment opportunities across key sectors.

The President welcomed the company’s interest and reaffirmed Zanzibar’s commitment to providing a conducive investment environment, particularly in the aviation sector, which he described as critical to supporting the archipelago’s position as a leading tourism hub.

He noted that significant opportunities remain for investors to partner with Zanzibar in developing aviation infrastructure and services.

In a separate engagement, President Mwinyi met with leadership from the Zanzibar Business and Property Registration Agency (BPRA), alongside digital technology experts from Germany’s GIZ, to review progress in digital system reforms.

The collaboration aims to modernize business registration processes and enhance the delivery of digital public services, supporting Zanzibar’s broader goal of building an efficient and technology-driven economy.
