The United Nations in Tanzania has joined the global community in marking 32 years since the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
Commemorations held across the world, including in Tanzania, bring together communities to remember the more than one million lives lost, honor survivors, and reflect on the enduring importance of unity and peace.
This year’s theme, “Remember, Unite, Renew,” underscores a renewed global commitment to preserving historical truth, promoting reconciliation, and ensuring that such atrocities are never repeated.
The observance serves as a powerful reminder of the consequences of division and the importance of collective responsibility in building peaceful and inclusive societies.
Through remembrance and dialogue, the United Nations continues to advocate for strengthened efforts toward conflict prevention, human rights protection, and sustainable peace across Africa and beyond.
