The Speaker of the National Assembly of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. The leaders also explored ways in which the World Travel & Tourism Council could collaborate with the Sixth Phase Government under the leadership of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Samia Suluhu Hassan, to accelerate the growth of the tourism sector through sustainable investment promotion, strengthened professional training, and expanded use of modern technologies in tourism services and destination marketing.

The Conservation Commissioner of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority, Mr. Abdul-Razaq Badru, officially launched the month-long Safari Field Challenge on April 9, 2026, emphasizing that Ngorongoro Conservation Area is “home to all humanity” due to its scientifically recognized historical significance.
Speaking at the launch, Commissioner Badru thanked the eight participants for responding to the call to explore Ngorongoro, noting that the area is far more than the famous crater. He highlighted its rich cultural heritage, natural ecosystems, and its status as a cradle of human history, including the Laetoli Footprints, which date back over 3.6 million years. He also referenced unique features such as the shifting sands, the Ndutu plains where wildebeest are born, the presence of the “Big Five” in one ecosystem, Mount Lolmalasin, forests, diverse flora, and birdlife.

ARUSHA, April 1 — France’s ambassador to Tanzania, Anne-Sophie Avé, has praised the Tourism and Diplomatic Police Unit in the northern city of Arusha for its handling of security matters involving foreign visitors, including French nationals.
During a visit to the unit on Tuesday, Avé met police officers and commended their professionalism in addressing security-related challenges faced by visitors.
She said the French embassy would continue to cooperate with Tanzanian authorities and would share positive feedback about the unit’s services, particularly in supporting tourists visiting the region.
Arusha is a key tourism hub in Tanzania, serving as a gateway to major national parks and conservation areas.
The head of the unit, Superintendent of Police Waziri Tenga, welcomed the remarks and said ongoing training supported by police leadership and tourism stakeholders, including the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO), had helped improve service delivery.
Officials said several foreign missions, including those of Uganda, Kenya, the United States, South Africa, Italy and Burundi, have previously visited the unit.
