Serengeti Golf Course Set to Become World-Class Tourism Landmark in Tanzania

The new international golf course under construction on the periphery of Serengeti National Park is expected to rank among the world’s most iconic courses due to its unique design and setting.

Following a site visit by the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, TANAPA Conservation Commissioner Musa Nassoro Kuji, noted that the course is longer than many globally renowned facilities and offers a distinctive playing experience where golfers will be in close proximity to wildlife.

Project consultant Dr. Richard Matolo stated that the course is expected to significantly boost tourism and foreign exchange earnings, highlighting its unparalleled natural landscape where wildlife can be observed directly from the course. He added that the facility measures 7.065 kilometres, features a Par 72 layout across 18 holes, and ranks among the longest golf courses in Africa.

Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Ashatu Kijaji, commended the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, for her commitment to advancing the tourism sector.

She emphasized that the project within Serengeti will unlock new tourism products, particularly golf tourism, thereby diversifying Tanzania’s tourism portfolio. “The President has translated the growing global concept of golf tourism into practical implementation. This course is set to become a new landmark for both sports and tourism in Tanzania,” she stated.

Serengeti District Commissioner Angelina Marco Lubela expressed gratitude to the Government for allocating funds to the project and pledged strong protection of the facility, noting its potential to create employment opportunities for local youth.
