Speaking to journalists today, April 24, 2026, at the Southern Sun Hotel in Dar es Salaam, Chairperson of the Women in Leadership Forum (WLF), Dr. Evaline Munisi, said WLF has positioned itself as a platform that promotes wise leadership, national unity, social reconciliation, and respectful dialogue on the future of the country.

Dr. Munisi stated that WLF is not a platform for division, but rather a collective voice of women leaders reminding Tanzanians of the importance of safeguarding peace, preserving stability, respecting differing opinions, and putting Tanzania first.

She emphasized that at a time when the nation may experience moments of reflection, emotions, and differing debates, the responsibility of leaders and citizens alike is to ensure such differences are used to build, not weaken, national cohesion.

“Tanzania first, peace first, unity first.”

Dr. Mtui, a researcher at the Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI) under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, made history in 2017 with the discovery of a new butterfly species, Charaxes mtuiae, in the forests of Kihansi Gorge. The discovery followed extensive field research in which Dr. Mtui collected and analyzed approximately 200 butterfly species, leading to the identification of a previously undocumented species. The finding represents a significant milestone in wildlife and environmental science.
