The United Republic of Tanzania is participating in the 12th Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development, focusing on the implementation of Agenda 2030 and Africa’s Agenda 2063.
The high-level forum officially opened on April 28, 2026, in Addis Ababa, bringing together leaders, policymakers, experts, and youth representatives from across the continent.
Tanzania is represented by Richard Muyungi, who joins other African leaders in discussions aimed at accelerating sustainable development and strengthening regional cooperation.
The meeting is organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and was officially opened by its Executive Secretary, Claver Gatete.
In his opening remarks, Gatete emphasized that UNECA, in collaboration with the United Nations system, will continue supporting member states through policy advisory, capacity building, and partnerships aimed at delivering measurable development outcomes.
The forum, which includes member states of the African Union (AU) and various stakeholders, seeks to review progress made toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Africa’s long-term development blueprint.
Key focus areas under review include access to clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, as well as industry, innovation, and infrastructure—critical pillars for sustainable economic growth.
The forum serves as a platform for experience-sharing, policy dialogue, and collaborative action, reinforcing Africa’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.
The meeting is expected to conclude on April 30, 2026.
