Government Takes Action: New National Strategy Targets Moral Decline in Tanzania

Tanzania has officially launched a comprehensive 10-year National Strategy aimed at addressing moral decline and strengthening societal values across the country.

The strategy was launched by Paul Makonda on April 29, 2026, in Dodoma. The initiative will run from the 2026/27 financial year through 2036/37.

The launch event was also attended by the Minister for Community Development, Women and Special Groups, Dorothy Gwajima, highlighting the cross-sector importance of the initiative.

The strategy aims to promote ethical values, strengthen social cohesion, and address emerging societal challenges affecting communities, particularly among youth. It is expected to involve coordinated efforts across government institutions, communities, and stakeholders to foster a values-driven society.

Officials emphasized that the initiative will play a key role in safeguarding cultural integrity, promoting responsible citizenship, and supporting long-term national development goals.

The launch marks a significant step in Tanzania’s commitment to reinforcing moral standards and building a resilient, value-oriented society.
