Immigration Commissioner General Anna Makakala Meets Ambassadors to Strengthen Services

Tanzania is strengthening its immigration services and international coordination following a high-level meeting between the Commissioner General of Immigration, Anna Makakala, and newly appointed ambassadors.

The meeting took place on April 27, 2026, at the Immigration Department headquarters in Kurasini, Dar es Salaam, bringing together key diplomatic representatives ahead of their overseas assignments.

Among the ambassadors in attendance were Swahiba H. Mndeme, Musaa H. Ali, Zena Ahmed Said, and Salim O. Hamad.

Dr. Makakala emphasized that close collaboration between the Immigration Department and Tanzanian embassies abroad is essential to ensure efficient service delivery for citizens living overseas, as well as for foreign nationals entering Tanzania.

She noted that the meeting provided an important platform for exchanging experiences, addressing operational challenges, and developing strategic measures to enhance the efficiency and professionalism of immigration services.

The ambassadors, in turn, reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with the Immigration Department to ensure effective handling of immigration matters while safeguarding Tanzania’s national interests on the global stage.

The engagement forms part of the ambassadors’ pre-deployment preparations, equipping them with a deeper understanding of domestic immigration systems and their link to diplomatic responsibilities.

In her closing remarks, Dr. Makakala assured the ambassadors of the department’s continued support, emphasizing readiness to collaborate in facilitating their duties abroad.
