Inspector General of Police (IGP) Camillus Wambura has urged officers of the Forensic Science Commission to continuously strengthen their professional skills and embrace modern technologies in addressing increasingly sophisticated forms of crime.
Speaking during the opening of a capacity-building workshop for Commission personnel at the Tanzania Police School in Moshi on June 1, 2026, IGP Wambura noted that advancements in science and technology have transformed the nature of criminal activities, making it essential to equip forensic experts with modern investigative tools and techniques for the collection and analysis of evidence in support of justice delivery.
The Police Chief commended the Commission’s personnel for their critical role in crime scene investigations, evidence collection, and scientific analysis, emphasizing that every crime leaves traces that can help identify perpetrators. He urged officers to uphold professionalism, integrity, and continuous learning in order to enhance operational effectiveness and strengthen public confidence in the criminal justice system.
IGP Wambura further stated that the Tanzania Police Force continues to invest in advanced training and modern forensic technologies, including DNA analysis, digital forensics, and other scientific investigative methods. He noted that these investments are aimed at positioning the Commission as a key pillar in combating cybercrime, transnational crime, and other complex offenses that require evidence-based scientific investigations.
He stressed that the evidence collected by forensic experts plays a vital role in securing justice for victims, ensuring accountability for offenders, and reinforcing public trust in both the Police Force and the broader criminal justice system. He expressed confidence that the knowledge and skills gained during the workshop would contribute to improved performance and greater effectiveness among forensic personnel across the country.
For his part, the Commissioner of the Forensic Science Commission, Commissioner of Police (CP) Shaban Hiki, thanked IGP Camillus Wambura for his continued support and commitment to strengthening the capacity and effectiveness of the Commission.
