Dr. Kijaji Champions Stronger Tanzania–China Tourism Relations at UN Tourism Executive Council

The Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Hon. Dr. Ashatu Kijaji (MP), held bilateral talks with China’s Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism, Hon. Gao Zheng, on the sidelines of the 126th Session of the UN Tourism Executive Council in Toledo, Spain, to strengthen strategic cooperation in the tourism sector.

During the meeting, the two leaders explored opportunities to advance economic diplomacy through tourism by promoting investment, increasing tourist flows, enhancing knowledge exchange, and leveraging technology and innovation to drive sector growth. Dr. Kijaji reaffirmed that Tanzania regards China as a key tourism market and a strategic partner, expressing the Government’s commitment to expanding collaboration in capacity building, knowledge transfer, and the implementation of mutually beneficial joint initiatives.

The two sides also agreed to deepen cooperation through joint tourism promotion campaigns, strategic investments, and sector development programmes aimed at increasing tourist arrivals, boosting tourism revenues, and strengthening the longstanding diplomatic and economic ties between Tanzania and China.
