Tanzania continues to strengthen its position as a leading force for economic diplomacy and regional integration in Africa as President H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan and President H.E. Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah of Namibia unveiled an ambitious agenda to deepen bilateral cooperation across key strategic sectors that will drive growth, investment, and shared prosperity.
Speaking at State House in Dar es Salaam following official talks with her Namibian counterpart, President Samia announced that Tanzania and Namibia have agreed to expand collaboration in food security, trade and investment, the Blue Economy, natural gas, minerals, and livestock development—sectors that hold immense potential for accelerating economic transformation and improving the livelihoods of millions of citizens in both countries.
The discussions reflect a shared vision of moving beyond historic political solidarity towards a results-driven economic partnership capable of unlocking new opportunities for businesses, investors, entrepreneurs, and local communities.
President Samia called upon the private sectors of both nations to take full advantage of the opportunities created by the strong diplomatic relations between Tanzania and Namibia, emphasizing that political goodwill must translate into increased trade, investment flows, industrial partnerships, and joint ventures that directly benefit citizens.
A major highlight of the discussions was the commitment to advancing cooperation in the Blue Economy. With vast marine resources and strategic coastal advantages, Tanzania and Namibia are seeking to maximize the economic potential of their oceans through enhanced collaboration in fisheries, marine resource management, seafood processing, and other ocean-based industries.
The two leaders also agreed to strengthen cooperation in the natural gas and mining sectors through knowledge exchange, technology transfer, skills development, and institutional collaboration. These efforts are aimed at ensuring that Africa’s natural resources generate greater value addition, industrial growth, and sustainable economic development for future generations.
