Zara Tanzania Adventures Champions Tourism Security Through Police Training Initiative

Moshi, Tanzania – Tanzania’s tourism success is built not only on its world-renowned attractions but also on the safety, professionalism, and hospitality experienced by every visitor. Reinforcing this principle, Zara Tanzania Adventures has sponsored the Police Tourism and Diplomacy Training Workshop, a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening the capacity of Tanzania Police Force officers to serve tourists, diplomats, and international visitors with professionalism and excellence.

Held at the Tanzania Police School (CCP) in Moshi, the programme brought together senior police leaders, officers from across the country, tourism experts, academics, and private-sector stakeholders to enhance collaboration in promoting visitor safety and strengthening Tanzania’s reputation as a premier tourism destination.

The workshop was officially opened by Commissioner of Police Awadhi Haji Awadhi, Commissioner for Operations and Training, and hosted by Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Ramadhan Mungi, Commandant of the Tanzania Police School–Moshi. Officers from different regions participated, ensuring that the knowledge gained will benefit tourism destinations across the country.

Strengthening Professionalism in Tourism Policing

The training focused on four key areas essential to modern tourism security:

  • Economic and international diplomacy
  • Professional communication skills
  • Customer care and visitor relations
  • Understanding tourist and consumer behaviour

These competencies are designed to enable police officers to respond effectively to the needs of international visitors while contributing to Tanzania’s image as a safe, welcoming, and professionally managed destination.

Public–Private Partnership for Destination Excellence

Representing Zara Tanzania Adventures, Mr. Hoseana Nyingi, Head of IT and Marketing, highlighted that visitor safety has become an integral part of destination marketing.

“Today’s travellers choose destinations not only for their attractions but also for the confidence they have in their safety, hospitality, and overall travel experience. Every positive interaction strengthens Tanzania’s global tourism brand,” he noted.

With travellers increasingly sharing their experiences across digital platforms, professional service by law enforcement officers can significantly influence international perceptions of Tanzania and encourage repeat visitation.

Zainab Ansell’s Commitment to Tourism Development

The sponsorship reflects the long-standing commitment of Ms. Zainab Ansell, Founder and Managing Director of Zara Tanzania Adventures, to strengthening Tanzania’s tourism ecosystem beyond business operations.

For decades, Ansell has championed responsible tourism, workforce development, community empowerment, environmental conservation, and public-private partnerships that enhance the country’s competitiveness as a global destination. Supporting the Police Tourism and Diplomacy Training Workshop further demonstrates her belief that investing in people and institutions ultimately strengthens Tanzania’s tourism industry as a whole.

Tourism Security Drives Economic Growth

A secure tourism environment benefits the entire tourism value chain—from tour operators, hotels, and transport providers to local communities, national parks, and small businesses. Professional policing enhances visitor confidence, encourages longer stays, supports repeat travel, and strengthens Tanzania’s international reputation.

As Tanzania continues expanding its global tourism footprint, initiatives that unite government institutions, academia, and the private sector remain essential to building a resilient, competitive, and sustainable tourism industry.

A Shared Vision for Tanzania’s Tourism Future

Through its support for the Police Tourism and Diplomacy Training Workshop, Zara Tanzania Adventures has reaffirmed that destination competitiveness extends beyond marketing—it requires continuous investment in professionalism, safety, and strategic partnerships.

By equipping law enforcement officers with specialised skills in tourism, communication, and diplomacy, Tanzania is reinforcing one of its greatest tourism assets: a destination where visitors feel welcomed, respected, and safe throughout their journey.
